4th day in France..11:10 pm sitting outside a horse Quonset with my faithful music in my ears, a cold Kronenbourg 1664 staring at the millions of glowing pin holes in the sky canvas, the silhouette of the surrounding mountain range creates a blurred border of two equally magnificent transcending vistas. A 45 min drive from Grenoble this horse ranch is perched on an ever inclining plot of land at just over 835 meters..an altitude I inquired upon to stay vigilant on how well the two Suzuki DR 650s respond to elevation. These bikes being carborated with slightly different jetting (Marion's 150, Mine 155)..have me attentive. I am curious to see how they will perform as we approach The Alps. As the days of problem free riding start to build (still early in the grand scheme) I find myself giving them human traits of admiration. Marion's DR born in the year of 2000 seems to have had a life of little adversity, love and care by its previous owners..in almost stock form it has proven to be the better value of the two purchased (at this point). Mine on the other hand, a 2007 has become apparent came from a less suburban lifestyle with numerous modifications all in the effort of making it lighter and more powerful (a giant dirt bike really). It carries significantly more scars and attitude (less willing to warm up on initial start and refusal to stop with the occasional backfire). Like all relationships, ours with the bikes will continue to evolve with hopes the emphasis is on the realization of our mutual dependency! As I return to the vistas the iron horses rest in the stable next to our tent....zzzz
